Personal Process:
To be able to complete this assignment I went through some steps, which play an important role in my writing process.
To begin with, I thought writing the story would be such an easy work because its something that happen to me, my personal experiences. So re told it won't be harder, but along the way I figured its so much hard that i thought and take more effort than I expected.
The assignment was placed on Thursday, although I start thinking about my story right after the professor said about it, I started thinking of what would be a good idea to write about it and try to find the proper way to write about. As the process continued, the next day I wrote down key words on post-it papers that would help me to figure out what the line of the story could be. On saturday, after breakfast I sat down with my computer and with my notes on my couch with my boyfriend around playing video games and my dog next to me. The fact that was snowing day outside help me no to get distracted with something else and get my story done.
Writing a story needs time, dedication and full concentration on what are you writing, the same saturday I finished my first draft of the story, after I sat down for 6 hours. However, This time was with breaks for water, snack and petting my dog. Always when I'm going to write the first thing I always think about the beginnings of the kind of books and novels i like to read, so I try to follow that style to make it enjoyable for me to writing it and I think for the reader as well. In addition , an important step I do, It's write all my ideas down and then I reread it in order to start fixing it , and see if it sounds good or need details or too much information etc.
For this story ,my boyfriend played an important role in this process because he helped me out as a reader with his listening, he read it couple times, he listening it from me and he did his comments about it, what can be better , what doesn't make sense etc., finally something that was crucial for my writing was the explanation about telling and showing scenes from my professor because as the way i was writing i was repeating to myself ," can i picture this scene, its visible for my mind??" in order to make a well told story.
After 6 hours i took an hour break , I did something else and then I re read it to see if finally sounds how i wanted to sound and be; my boyfriend read it again in order to have two perspective of the story.
However, the interesting part is that I built the beginning part along the way, I started my story from the action, the climax of situation and then I tied it with a beginning and end. putting my ideas together make my first draft
critique my end product:
- So far I can tell the story is well written , I like lot a lot and even more because read it make me re live the moment and be back on that moment , even thought needs to have much fixing of detailing and showing scenes. sometimes I want to write everything and sometimes I skip important details.
- on the other hand I can say I like it a lot although the story its still going on. Summed up it was kinda of hard and try to focus on the details that make the story the real story, but no telling more than it supposed to be , making clearly and juicy, my point is that sometimes I think the reader can get disconnected and lost because i assumed he is in my mind and some stuff is been said , but actually is lacking of details. I debating myself all the time about its too much , or it needs more.
- The words and the simplicity of the vocabulary sometimes make the story repeating, even though if i tried to use synonyms , also the part for the dialogue between people its hard to build them and go along with the story.
- manage the same theme was kind of complicated to keep that line, but i guess that the notes i took at the beginning help me a lot.
